God forbid you make a critical comment of an article. If you aren't run out by argumentative commenters, you'll be banned by the author. Bye bye.

Be a snide asshole, get comment dismissed. I fail to see the issue.
Try this crazy new strategy I just came up with: don’t like it? don’t click it, don’t comment.
I don’t think you’re banned by the way, just dismissed on one comment. The comment I’m guessing you’re referring to is not ‘pending approval’ so if you’re out of the grey I think you still will be.

Yeah, I no longer go on the FP after Travis Okulski decided to be a real prick when I called Jalopnik out on their lack of original content. He treated a long-time reader (me) like a troll and didn’t seem concerned that he lost a reader when he was all like “do you even read this blog bro?”
With the exception of Mate Petrany, whose writing I really enjoy, lots of the FP stuff lately has been recycled not-news or stuff that everyone saw on reddit the day before. I don’t read Jalopnik anymore, just Oppo- and Gizmodo sometimes too.

While I sympathise with you, good luck getting very much support here either. I can see people are already giving you shit. The truth of the matter is that the FP is the most obvious casualty to the Kinja/Gawker standardization efforts. But since Oppo has been flush with the same type of sheeples, it’s not the safe haven it once was either. There’s always CL though.

I knew when I made this post that it would attract the exact type of people that I was referring to. Oh well. I do like the CL. I'm sure I will be visiting it more often.

I made a true fact about the new GT being made in Canada and everyone barked at me for saying it was made in Canada and not the US.

The assholes are the ones who believe that it should be acceptable to dismiss comments just because they aren’t parallel with the article’s view. A comment section is a place to offer your opinion on the information above. It's not a place for only people who kiss the feet of the author.

I agree with your description of the comments section but there is providing said criticism in a constructive way (or a humorous way) and there is what you did. To question the merit of the post because of it not being news, insinuating that anyone thinks Jalopnik is a news site, is ridiculous and nothing less than shit-stirring and I think the comment was dismissed accordingly. Jalopnik is a car site/blog; that’s news, reviews, opinions and lots of everything in between. To get upset that the result of a car race gets published in a car site is ridiculous, as is complaining about a random car video being posted.
I also agree that the post you took issue with is of little to no value but come on, Jalopnik has lots of that and it’s easy to look past to get to things that may actually interest you. There’s no need to complain about things no-one is forcing you to look at.
Quite frankly, I’m not a fan of Nicole’s work so far but that’s not something worth going into. I just read the headline and the little blurb on the main page. If it disinterests me, I won’t click, simple as that. If a large enough portion of the audience does the same and her posts don’t gather the views and interaction that Jalopnik expects, there will be someone else to fill those shoes.
In the meantime, there’s lots else beside Jalopnik to occupy our collective time with.

Fair enough.
